A.
The South African Times:

The Human Rights Commission chairman Jody Kollapen wrote to the minister of international relations and cooperation, Maite Nkoane-Mashabane, asking why the position taken by the SA representative on the UN Human Rights Council differed from the government position. South Africa recently supported a call by Judge Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, for an investigation into the atrocities. Kollapen said South Africa had always played a role in trying to mediate the conflict. "What was concerning was South Africa supported the resolution that would not see any investigation. It was in contradiction to the statement issued by the South African government."

Let me express my sincere gratitude on your determination and courage in solidarity.

Your hunger strike for the past 21 days in support and in quest for justice for the voiceless, long oppressed, hapless, suppressed and helpless Tamils in Sri Lanka.

This has given me more courage to continue the freedom struggle for Tamils.

A New Beginning -- Watch the President's Speech

The White House, Washington

Hello -

As a Senior Advisor to the President, I'm here in Cairo, Egypt where I watched President Obama deliver an unprecedented speech calling for a new beginning for the United States and Muslim communities around the world.

We all know that there has been tension between the United States and some Muslim communities. But, as the President said this morning, if all sides face the sources of tension squarely and focus on mutual interests, we can find a new way forward.

The President outlined some big goals for this new beginning in his speech -- including disrupting, dismantling, and defeating violent extremism. It was a historic speech, and since many Americans were asleep at the time it was given we wanted to make sure you had a chance to see it:

A New Beginning

Majority-Muslim countries around the world are filled with extraordinary people who simply want to live their lives and see their children live better lives, just as in America. Indeed, part of what makes America great is having nearly seven million Muslim Americans living here today and enriching our culture and communities.

We can extend that kind of relationship abroad. It won't always be easy, but if we make an effort to bridge our differences rather than resigning ourselves to animosity, we can move toward a more peaceful world over time.

Thank you,
David Axelrod
Senior Advisor to the President

VERY URGENT ACTION OF THE MOMENT

Please write e-mails to thank the Government of Canada for playing a crucial role in rallying the west to stand up for human rights and say no to Sri Lanka at the UNHRC.  Also thank all parties who made and effort to save the Tamils from Sri Lankan Government.  Canada along with the rest of the world failed to save 30000 Tamils in the 'safe zone'.  Urge Canada to save the 300000 Tamils who are being tortured, raped, murdered on a daily basis again without Media, UN monitors on the ground.

The doctors who are witness to Sri Lankan war crimes are detained and tortured.  Ethnic cleansing continues under the pre-text of weeding out carders. People in the camps are already pre-screened by the military and surrounded by barb wires. This is not reconciliation.  Surrendered Carders are also executed not protected by law.

So we are coming back to Ottawa in large numbers on Wednesday to thank Canada and urge Canada to save the Tamils from Sri Lanka.  Let them know your expectation that this time, the parliamentarians, party leaders and ministers will openly come and address the Canadians who will be standing out side on the hill.  Canadians are gathering to request the following:

1. UN must take responsibility for the safety and protection of Tamils in the concentration camps under military oppression in North and East in the Tamil Areas in Sri Lanka

2. Ensure to bring the Srilankan Government officials  and the military commanders responsible for the 21st Century ethnic cleansing to the International War Crime Tribunal

3. Send Immediate International Aid via UN Aid agencies to the affected people and ensure presence of UN monitors and world Media as witness.

4. Recognize that a permanent solution to Tamils in the island of Srilanka must be based on Tamil's right to self-determination

Continue to write e-mails, make calls and fax until Wednesday and let the MPs, Ministers, Party Leaders and Senators to let them know that you are coming back and you are expecting the government of Canada and the opposition leaders to address the Tamil Canadians and assure that they will work hard in solidarity to uphold the human rights values and save the Tamils.
