Your Excellency;

Re: Beg you to support the discussion of Tamils’ plight in Sri Lanka in UN Security Council

As you are already aware, last week the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Commissioner Dr. Navi Pillai said, that at least 2800 Tamil civilians were killed and 7000 more injured from January 20th to March 10th 2009 including large number of children. UNICEF said, that hundreds of civilians were killed and thousands more children injured within past two months alone.

UN has now admitted that the "minimum number of documented civilian casualties since 20 January 2008 , as of 7 March in the conflict area of Mullaitivu Region [is] 9,924 casualties including 2,683 deaths and 7,241 injuries. This state atrocities amounting to Genocide of Tamils should not be permitted by China as a huge supper power.

You may be also aware that, since independence from British in 1948 till 1983 Tamils without resorting to violence fought for their equal rights. But successive Sri Lankan leaders handled Tamil citizens in heavy handed manners and in that process thousands of Tamils were killed and thousands more were injured which only paved the way for dawn of the armed resistance of Tamils and they still continue to fight for the Tamils’ right to self-determination.

I understand that UN Security Council for a second time is to decide to discuss the Tamils plight in Sri Lanka on March 26th. I earnestly urge Chinese government on behalf of Tamils who paid their dear lives in thousands in Sri Lanka and over 80 million Tamils all over the world to allow and support the decision of discussing Tamils plight in the UN Security Council.

I hope and pray, China , as a world power will not be identify itself as a nation stood in the way of discussing a worst humanitarian crisis unfolding in Sri Lanka in the UN Security Council.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours truly,

Your Excellency;

It is added more worring news reaching to Canadian tamil community, that China (Under your diplomatic excel) is not among the participating nations, to end the tamils sufferings heard at the united nation. Many nations have arrived to a point that it must be allowed as priority for coming discussion to be held on 26th March 2009.

We, as Canadian Tamils have been carrying out all our efforts to find an early directions by United nations and international community to stop the civil war going on in Srilankan. There were many peace wanting rallies held by tamils (Including children to Senior citizens) lived in many cities for the past 3 months without noticing the hard winter.
We are happy, that multiculure community lived in Canada have noticed the sufferings of tamils on the streets for the past 3 months. This message being moved to many nations where rallies were not held. Particulary, for the communities of mexican and Costa Ricon have come forward along with others to take this matter at the united nations.

There were many pleading messages, sent out by various leaders, to President Makinda Rajapakse (Srilanka), to stop this war and go for a cease fire to bring a solution. His response was poor to all these calls made by various UN agencies as well as world leaders. Our Canadain Foregin minster too appealed and response was not accommodative to the Canadian tamils concerns. Tamils have evident of images reached out, as proof that level of sufferings and deaths made by this war to tamil population caught in the north east area are not just war scars. It is really an ethinic cleansing going on with systemetic plan and follows genocide.

It is our plea that your efforts should reach to your diplomatic emmosories in the united nations to conclude as a active participant for this coming proposal to end the civil war, and bringing the matter under the united nations discussion.

I hoping for your response treated as an urgent matter.

Thank You.
